Learning outcomes

The course focuses on music, society and culture from ancien régime to modernity.

Program

The course is divided into two parts. The first focuses on the role and significance of music as a medium of communication between men and the construction of social groups, both today and in the past. The second is an historical overview on the European classical music, from the definition of the paradigms of the ancien régime (between the XVIth and the XVIIth centries) to post-revolutionary age (nineteenth century).
