Learning outcomes
a) the knowledge of the history of Europe in the mediaeval Millennium; b) competence in the interpretation and in the analysis of the historical settings in which the students live, also in connection with their specific profession of educator; c) in the meantime students are directed to improve the methods of historical research guided by the teacher, through the study of the specific case of Belief and Disbelief in the Middle Ages.

b) MAIN COURSE:
HAGIOGRAPHY AS SOURCE OF MEDIEVAL HISTORY
to prepare with notes from the lessons, and the study of the medieval sources introduced to the students during lessons (also available from the teacher) , and the offprint: P. GOLINELLI, Un’agiografia per la storia. Miracolati e testimoni nei processi di canonizzazione e nelle raccolte di miracoli, estratto da Ovidio Capitani. Quaranta anni per la storia medievale, a cura di M. C. DE MATTEIS, Bologna, Patron, 2003 (separately available).

WORKSHOP
Two visits to the Medieval churches of Verona are organized according to the readings of the sources (In praise of Verona - Lode di Verona).
