Social and community psychology (2011/2012)
The teaching is organized as follows:
Learning outcomes
Module: PSICOLOGIA SOCIALE E DEI GRUPPI
-------
– To provide knowledge of the main psychosocial processes that intervene in different life contexts.
– To provide conceptual and practical tools for interventions in the field of social and community psychology.
– To promote the use of psychosocial lenses in observing different realities that people construct in interaction.
– To favour methodological and practical competences of the students, possibly through active and critical participation in class.
Module: PSICOLOGIA DINAMICA
-------
Students will be invited to develop a critical thinking on the several theories in community psychology, gaining consciousness on cultural and discursive processes involved in the social construction of psychological disease. Students need to construct a theoretically founded competence useful to select strategies for specific interventions focused on human interaction. The course also aims to present an introduction to adequate methodology for conducting activities in social and clinical contexts.

During the lessons, the main theoretical contributions to the birth of the discipline will be illustrated, focusing on the those paradigmatic shifts that generated different approaches to social psychology. Then, the main processes that construct social realities will be discussed, with particular attention to social comparison processes, social influence, attitudes, communication and social memory. The theory of Social Representations will be presented with references to its fields of intervention and application.
Finally, the main processes connected to intra and inter group relations, with particular attention to issues connected to roles, leadership and intergroup conflicts. Along the theoretical presentations, pragmatic and real life examples will be favoured in order to enhance students' competences in their future professional interventions.
