Learning outcomes

The course aims at developing in the students the aptitude to analyze and reflect critically texts regarding the problem of the formation of the personal identity with particular reference to the German phenomenology.

Program

Why some works of art strike us more than others? Why some persons have more decisive influence upon us? Does this influence take place on the level of judgment or does it involve primarily our affective sphere? The course will examine the question how the phenomenology of the alterity can modify our way of comprehending the problem of the formation (Bildung) of the person and that of the intersubjectivity.

Texts for the exam:

M. Scheler, Modelli e capi, FrancoAngeli Milano 2011
G. Cusinato, La Totalità incompiuta, FrancoAngeli 2008, (only the second Part)

Examination Methods

The exam will consist in an oral test and will aim at verifying the capacity of critical investigation into an argument chosen by the student for each exam text, including his or her ability to develop, beginning from the chosen argument, some connexions inside the text itself. It will be possible (only for students attending the course) to substitute written papers for oral examinations, according to the modalities to be indicated at the beginning of the course. The papers should be handed in until the end of the course.

Students with disabilities or specific learning disorders (SLD), who intend to request the adaptation of the exam, must follow the instructions given HERE
