Learning outcomes

Workshop on Opera. The workshop aims to introduce students to the study of opera through direct engagement with stagings of specific works.

Program

The workshop focuses on three operas: "Le nozze di Figaro" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, "Anna Bolena" by Gaetano Donizetti and "Salome" by Richard Strauss. Students will be involved in two kinds of activities: lectures on these operas (18 hours) and their rehearsals at the Teatro Filarmonico, where they are going to be staged next winter and spring (18 hours). Some of the artists involved with the productions (directors, conductors, singers and so on) will meet the students both in class and in the theatre, and discuss their contributions to the performances.

Delivery of the course: lectures with audio/visual examples; rehearsals at the Teatro Filarmonico.
