Academic calendar
The academic calendar shows the deadlines and scheduled events that are relevant to students, teaching and technical-administrative staff of the University. Public holidays and University closures are also indicated. The academic year normally begins on 1 October each year and ends on 30 September of the following year.

Learning outcomes
The course aims to introduce students to the historical understanding of the fundamentals of Greek and Latin theatre.
At the end of the course the student must demonstrate:
1) knowledge of the historical development of Greek tragedy, its forms and contents;
2) knowledge of the institutional framework of the attic drama;
3) ability to read and interpret a Greek tragedy ("Helen of Euripides) commenting on individual passages and framing the drama in the author's prod
Program
The first part of the course is a general introduction to greek tragedy. The second part will focus on reading the tragedy "Helen" of Euripides (in italian translation) with anaylis and discussion of dramaturgical and content aspects.
Prerequisites: The basic knowledge of the classical languages is desirable, but not indispensable.

Examination Methods
Expected knowledge and skills will be verified through an oral exam.
Preparation will be considered adequate if the student demonstrates the following abilities:
1) accurate and thorough exposure of the topics learned in the module, mastering the vocabulary and the terminology relating to the history of Greek tragedy
2) articulated re-elaboration of the contents of the module;
3) ability to understand and interpret the passages of the "Helen" that will be presented
