Learning outcomes
In the advanced class of Comparative Literature (36 hours, 6 CFU) students will have the opportunity to develop and examine in depth the subjects previously studied in the introductive class; it will therefore be the chance to reflect extensively on typical periods, themes, and genres of World Literature (especially Western Literature), with a particular focus on the new languages that are recently developing. Basic notions of narratology and stylistics will be introduced for this purpose. At the end of the lessons, students will be able to orient themselves in the vast horizon of Western Literature. and they will also be able to write a convincing if short scientific essay.
In order to attend the advanced class of Comparative Literature, students MUST have first attended the introductive class.
Program
In the Comparative literature (p) class both the themes of the scar and the tattoo will be analyzed. The students will read novels and essays about the subjects, which will be examined from a diachronic perspective.
