Learning outcomes

Il modulo didattico in lingua inglese prevede 12 ore di lezione, è rivolto agli studenti del CdLM in International Economics & Business e finalizzato all’introduzione all’uso del software open source e free ‘R’; sarà idealmente collegato all’insegnamento di Quantitative methods for international markets del CdLM in International Economics & Business.

Program

Il modulo (in inglese) sarà tenuto da:

e sarà diviso nei seguenti argomenti:
Session 1 (3 hours):
How to install R and use it with RStudio? How to create, manipulate, extract, etc. vectors with R?
Computation matrix with R: an overview
Session 2 (3 hours):
Data Objects in R: importing small data and big data. Vocabulary: presentation of some R base functions for econometrics and statistic. Presentation of R markdown for creating report
Programming in R: control structures, creating functions
Session 3 (3 hours):
Tidyverse: easily techniques for handling and manipulation of data. Graphics with R base functions. Statistical test with R: t-test, chi-square, etc.
Session 4 (3 hours):
Data visualization with ggplot2. Econometric modelling with R: syntax for regression modelling, time series, panel data. Case study: application of an econometric and statistic analysis on real data set

Il modulo didattico si collega agli argomenti sviluppati nell’insegnamento di Quantitative methods for international markets.

Examination Methods

L’attività formativa richiede un impegno corrispondente a 2 CFU. Il riconoscimento di crediti è subordinato alla frequenza delle ore previste di lezione ed al superamento di un prova finale costituita dall’applicazione dei concetti appresi durante il modulo ad una banca dati a scelta dello studente e la predisposizione di una relazione riassuntiva dell’analisi effettuata (circa 1000 parole).
