Learning outcomes

Ethics
Ethics investigates the principles that, in the course of history, have guided (or rather should guide) human actions, be they individual acts or choices made by an entire society.
At the end of the course, students will know the main ethical and political aspects of Western philosophical tradition, the main lines of contemporary philosophical debate on human society, and the theories and practices of care from Antiquity to present-day. They will also be able to comprehend philosophical texts, to set them within a proper critical frame, to employ a correct philosophical terminology, to compare the characteristics of philosophical thought of the past with those of present-day philosophy, and to autonomously form judgements on the subjects dealt with in classes. Finally, they will also be capable to communicate philosophical contents to specialists and non-specialists alike, and to continue their studies at a MA level.

Program

Sublimation, work, life.

Students attending the classes will receive frontal lessons which will address the textes in the form of a comment, an elaboration, an extension of their content. The individual study of the texts will be also an important part of the preparation of the final exam. Meeting hours for students are scheduled during the whole academic year. Days and hours of the courses and of the meetings will be communicated in the teacher’s personal webpage.

The competence of all students, either those who attended the course or those who didn’t, will be ascertained by means of an oral examination. The final score will be expressed in /30s.

Students with disabilities or specific learning disorders (SLD), who intend to request the adaptation of the exam, must follow the instructions given HERE
