Learning objectives
The course is designed to provide students with the tools they need to:
- be able to recognize and manage the major emergencies of neurosurgical interest in the setting of First Aid, General Practice and Medical or Surgical Ward: cranial traumatology, spinal traumatology, radicular and medullary syndromes (for example from disc herniation), cerebral haemorrhages , intracranial hypertension;
- correctly use diagnostic scales such as the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) and the ASIA scale (American Spinal Injury Association), also through practical exercises.
