Academic calendar
The academic calendar shows the deadlines and scheduled events that are relevant to students, teaching and technical-administrative staff of the University. Public holidays and University closures are also indicated. The academic year normally begins on 1 October each year and ends on 30 September of the following year.

Learning objectives
The teaching module aims to provide the student with pedagogical learning principles and behavioural mechanisms underlying health promotion, therapeutic education and prevention performed by the health care assistant.
The module introduces also to the understanding of some fundamentals of primary prevention and health maintenance, like sport and healthy diets. The teaching also aims to provide prevention strategies for individuals or groups of people with the goal of promoting safety for healthcare workers and patients.
The teaching module aims to give the students the theoretical and practical knowledge necessary to understand and analyse:
- The biochemical, physiological basis and health effects of food and nutrition and movement and exercise at different stages of life.
- Programs of health promotion in the contexts of nutrition and health.
- Safety in life environments, at home and the prevention of injuries in a domestic environment.
- Pedagogical and educational principles applied to the different stages of life.
- Social theories of the process of behavioural change.
- The most important psychological functions (perception, emotion, motivation, memory, knowledge, thinking, language) used by humans to interact with the environment and produce representations of the environment and themselves.
- Critically analyse prevention and safety regulations including their interrelationships, and ensure consistent application in daily practice.
- Select and apply standard precautions (hand hygiene, use of gloves and personal protective equipment) and specific precautions in relation to the transmission pathways.
