Learning objectives
Resting on the thin edge dividing two different styles of investigation, the workshop on ethics and psychoanalysis aims to approach ethic’s main topics from the perspective of psychoanalysis and its contribution to provide a different reading to the main issues of the philosophical tradition. In particular, the workshop will provide an insight of the philosophical meaning of Freud’s discovery of the powerlessness of the subject. What does ethics become, in such perspective? How may philosophy think (or have thought) something corresponding to that, and may be called to develop that approach? The workshop will collectively analyze some of the main texts that have pioneered these philosophical discussions, in order that students may be capable to master their arguments and create their personal approach to them in a critical and autonomous way.
Prerequisites and basic notions
There are no prerequisites.
Program
The theme of this year's workshop will be that of the object, in the many meanings that the various philosophical and psychoanalytical theories and practices have indicated. We will also study the modes and processes of subjectivation that the object entails.
Bibliography
Didactic methods
There will be moments of introduction or recapitulation, conducted in a more frontal manner, and ample spaces in which guest lecturers, mainly from the world of psychoanalysis, will be invited, and ample spaces of group discussion and elaboration. Due to the interactive nature of the workshop, the teaching will be conducted exclusively in presence, without streaming or video recording. Active participation in at least 70% of the lectures is required in order to obtain the credits.
Learning assessment procedures
The lessons will offer the opportunity for active participation, which replaces the moment of the exam or other forms of final verification.
Evaluation criteria
The lessons will offer the opportunity for active participation, which replaces the moment of the exam or other forms of final verification.
Criteria for the composition of the final grade
There is no vote. The participation to the workshop will be either approved or rejected.

PLEASE NOTE: In order to be admitted to any teaching activities, including those of your choice, you must be enrolled in the academic year in which the activities in question are offered. Students who are about to graduate in the December and April sessions are therefore advised NOT to undertake extracurricular activities in the new academic year in which they are not enrolled, as these graduation sessions are valid for students enrolled in the previous academic year. Therefore, students who undertake an activity in an academic year in which they are not enrolled will not be granted CFU credits.
