Learning objectives
The placement during the training course is the privileged and irreplaceable way to learn the professional role through active experimentation. The quality of the internship depends on the continuous interaction of the practical experience with theoretical reflection. Practical activity aims to: promote and integrate theoretical and practical knowledge; develop technical, educational and relational skills; promote direct knowledge of experiential areas, as well as critical reflection on the operational modalities observed.
Prerequisites and basic notions
Attendance at teachings and laboratories/exercises during the course year. Overcoming theoretical barriers and internship
Program
The internship in nurse training is an irreplaceable way of learning the professional role, through practical experimentation and the integration of theoretical knowledge with concrete experience. It allows the student to gradually develop a professional identity, to put theoretical principles and disciplinary knowledge into practice in different situations, to recover the principles adopted from practice, to acquire the ability to make decisions in a real context. The internship includes various training activities: direct experience in the services, tutorial activities for preparation and re-elaboration of the experience (briefing and debriefing), exercises and simulations in the laboratory which usually precede the direct experience in the services in order to guarantee safety towards patients and students, guided study, self-study, development of plans, projects and reports. The student experiences various internship experiences accompanied and supervised by tutors and expert professionals, aimed at acquiring skills defined by the professional profile of the nurse and specific to nursing. On average, two - three experiences are offered in accredited hospital health services and facilities, in the areas of general and specialist medicine and surgery, intensive and post-acute care, community medicine, local and home services, rehabilitation care services; each experience has a duration ranging from 5 to 8 weeks, essential to allow the student to develop the expected skills and competences and experiment gradually.

Didactic methods
The internship experience is achieved through the gradual direct experimentation of clinical care activities, direct communication with the patient, discussion with experts, professionals, tutors and other students; it is also divided into moments of deciphering and re-elaborating the situations encountered and what was planned and achieved. All this contributes to clinical learning. Internship experiences are evaluated for ongoing training purposes and at the end of each year of the course through an overall assessment of the student and collegiate career.
Learning assessment procedures
