Learning outcomes
THE COURSE AIMS TO
• introduce knowledge of modern and contemporary Italian literature;
• present and analyze texts by Italian authors from a historical, critical and formal point of view.
EXPECTED FORMATIVE RESULTS
At the end of the course the student will be able to
• read and comment, also from a formal point of view, texts of modern and contemporary Italian literature;
• place the authors and the works examined within the historical and critical context.
PREREQUISITES
Basic knowledge of Italian literature and language is presupposed.

There are no program differences between students attending classes and those not attending. Attendance of lectures, however, is strongly recommended.
NB: Students are invited to bring the texts in the bibliography to class, as literary passages contained in them will be read, analyzed and commented. The teacher will indicate from one lesson to another which volumes will be used from time to time (the first lessons will focus on literary history, and therefore on the first text in the program, ie Al cuore della letteratura, volume 5. Il secondo Ottocento).

Examination Methods
Written test (with open-ended questions).
For all students, attending and not attending lectures, the assessment of learning outcomes includes a written test, with the aim of verifying:
• analytical knowledge of the topics of the program;
• the ability to reflect and elaborate around some problematic points;
• the critical skills acquired in the analysis of texts.
The written test will cover all the topics of the program.
