Learning outcomes
To provide a basic introductory knowledge of general anthropology in terms of content, the main debates in the course of the history of the discipline, the methods and ethical questions.
Program
Contents Course: As an introduction to anthropological knowledge, the main threads of the history of the discipline will be analysed, in particular the development of schools in Great Britain, France, Germany and the United States. The development of anthropological thought will be interpreted within the wider topic of alterity beginning with a case study on the “invention” of gypsies. One part of the course will deal with anthropology of history and students will be assisted in reading and personally analysing specific works on some areas of the discipline.
