Foundations of musical dramaturgy: Monteverdi and the beginnings of opera. This course aims to introduce students to the study of opera. The first part will focus on the theory of musical dramaturgy. The second will concentrate on the works of Monteverdi, especially "L’Orfeo" and "L’incoronazione di Poppea", which will function as case studies on which we will try out recent methodological approaches and learn the most useful analytical tools.
