Learning outcomes
The Romance Philology course (Introductory course) aims to provide students with a philological-linguistic and literary knowledge of Romance languages and literatures of the Middle Ages in their passage from latin to vernacular and to reflect upon the tradition of common civilization – variously structured but unitary in its origins and meaning – which is represented by the Latin-Romance cultural world. We will focuse in particular on ancient French and ancient Spanish. The lectures of the Introductory and Advanced course will be characterized by an interdisciplinary approach : the art of miniature, theatre and music cooperate in the composition of the manuscripts we will examine, giving us a global and dynamic idea of the medieval text, as an inseparable union of visual and sound elements of the primary oral communication entrusted to the written text.
