M-FIL/01 - THEORETICAL PHILOSOPHY

Period

Sem IB dal Nov 18, 2013 al Jan 19, 2014.

Learning outcomes

Philosophy of religion is the meeting point between the philosophical ability to ask questions and the centrality of theological themes within western culture. It brings in important issues that affect human conduct as such, individual and social. The issues are discussed taking into account the historical context, but with prevailing theoretical commitment. Knowledge and various skills (historical, political, legal, theological) are part of this discipline as proper setting for further interdisciplinary developments.

Program

Title: The body as a cut. The circumcision

Continuing a research on the implications of the concept of “incarnation” and on theological materials from which the Western idea of the body was formed, the course aims to provide an opportunity for reflecting on the notion of “cutting” as an essential step for a rethinking of human singularity (male and female).
