Learning objectives
Philosophy of Language
The course aims at providing examples of the contribution modern and contemporary philosophy has made to the understanding of the functioning of language, and the relation between language, material reality and social reality.
At the end of the course, students:
KNOWLEDGE:
- will possess a wider knowledge of the main conceptual lines of Western philosophical tradition;
ABILITIES:
- will be able to comprehend philosophical texts, to set them in their proper critical context, and to interpret them;
- will use a correct philosophical terminology;
- will be able to autonomously form judgements on the subjects dealt with in the course;
- will develop the capacity to communicate philosophical contents to specialists and non-specialists alike;
- will be capable to continue their studies at a MA level.
