Learning outcomes
The course aims to make students develop a greater familiarity in the approach and study of decorative arts and related artistic techniques.
Program
The course will analyze the concept of "decorative arts" and will face the problem of museums and exhibitions of decorative arts and the peculiarities that distinguish these events (London, Great Exhibition 1851 - Turin, International Exhibition of Modern Decorative Art 1902). A general overview of the decorative arts will follow, with particular attention to the different artistic techniques - metals, ceramics, glass, forniture, printing, fabrics - and their evolution over time. Finally, the decorative arts in northern Italy will be explored in the twenties and thirties of the twentieth century.
