The course is aimed at investigating the contaminations between journalism and literature through the reconstruction of the history of journalism in Italy in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, with particular regard to European models, social, political and cultural aspects, as well as communicative, formal and stylistic ones that characterize it. After taking into consideration the evolution of periodical sheets from the "gazzetta" form to the "newspaper" form, at the origin of modern journalism, significant articles of the main Italian mastheads will be analyzed starting from the 1760s up to the second half of the 19th century (among the others, "The Literary Whip"; "The Coffee"; the "Italian Library"; "The Conciliator"; the "Anthology"). The slides projected in class, the handouts and useful critical readings will be made available to students on the e-learning platform. In addition to the texts mentioned in the bibliography, other indications will be provided during the lessons.
