Learning outcomes

Objectives of the course are the following:
1) Introduction to scientific method in the varieties qualitative and quantitative that characterize the social sciences.
2) Learning how to design a social study in contexts and subjects relative to the social work;
2) Experiencing qualitative and quantitative research issues through 2.0 online technologies,

Program

The program me consists of the following:
1) Introduction to social research methods;
2) Research methodology in physical as well as Social Sciences;
3) Social research and social work issues;
4) Research study design;
5) Experiencing qualitative and quantitative research techniques;
6) Use of 2.0 online technologies in the implementation of a social research study
7) Introduction to descriptive statistics

Examination Methods

The exam consists of the following:
- questionnaire on methodological issues about points 1-3 seen above;
- research project and data report on an on field research exercise.
Both tasks have to be fulfilled tfor getting a mark
