Learning outcomes
Knowledge and understanding 1. To know the main educational models present in the history of childhood in general and in particular in the history of early childhood in the twentieth century. 2. To understand the pedagogical meaning of the evolution of educational practices related to early childhood, with particular regard to the importance of the way adult figures relate to children. 3. To know and understand the meaning of the historical-pedagogical process of recognition of the rights of children. Applying knowledge and understanding 1. Knowing how to analyze the social consideration of childhood and its experience in different historical moments, capturing in the evolution of pedagogical thought one of the factors of the progressive deepening of the meaning of education from the first months and years of life. 2. Knowing how to identify the care needs of very young children in particular historical moments and knowing how to reflect on these needs in the light of the children's way of life in the current context. 3. To re-read the texts of authors, modern and contemporary, concerning early childhood and to be able to identify and comment on their thinking to verify its actuality.
