M-FIL/01 - THEORETICAL PHILOSOPHY
Period
Sem. 1B dal Nov 19, 2018 al Jan 12, 2019.
Learning outcomes
The course aims to identify the research horizons that characterize metaphysics as the culmination of philosophical inquiry by means of a comparison with an exemplary personality and with a key text in which the question is approached in a theoretically relevant and historically influential way. In such way, the student will be able to acquire the mastery of the metaphysical concepts and lexicon. Secondly, the course aims to provide the critical tools to orient oneself among the different theses, which all often contradict each other, with a special attention to the research perspectives identified by contemporary thought, whose foundations, scope and limits will be discussed. The aim of the course is therefore to provide the students with sufficient critical skills for further study and for the application of their own knowledge to the areas of reference of the current debate, supported by adequate logical-argumentative, hermeneutic, and linguistic skills.
Program
What is today the meaning of metaphysics in the context of the philosophical reflection? What are his links with ontology? What relationship does it maintain with the affirmation of the transcendence and centrality of the human person? We will try to give an answer to these questions by means of the deepening of the Introduction to the metaphysics of Enrico Berti (Utet, Torino 2017) and the Philosophical Itinerary of Giuseppe Zamboni (QuiEdit, Verona 2018).

Examination Methods
Didactic Methods
The teaching methods consist of traditional lectures and specific insights. Frontal lessons also use power point presentations to make learning clearer and more immediate. Each lesson will be recorded in MP3 format and, together with all the material analysed during the course, will be punctually loaded on the e-learning platform of the University with the aim of easing the study for both attending stu-dents and those who can not attend lectures.
During the academic year, an individual consultation service is also available at the teacher's study, at the times indicated on the web pages and readily updated.
Examination arrangements
The assessment of the learning outcomes of the key concepts and the related issues will be done by means of an oral test concerning the programme carried out during the course. This examination will consist of questions to test the students' critical-argumentative ability, textual exegesis, conceptual clarity and the acquisition of an adequate philosophical vocabulary. The student is also required to submit a brief report on the subject or text of his choice concerning the program, for up to six folders (maximum 15,000 spaces including spaces), which will be discussed during the exam. The grades are expressed in thirtieths. The examination is the same for both attending students and non-attending ones.
