Learning outcomes

Obiettivo del corso è contribuire allo sviluppo di attitudini critiche nell’interpretazione dei fatti economici e aziendali, attraverso la conoscenza delle vicende economiche, imprenditoriali più significative dal 1945 al 2008. È importante che lo studente che si appresta ad affrontare il mondo lavorativo - oltre che di ottime conoscenze tecniche già fornite da altri insegnamenti - possa disporre di elementi basati sui fatti economici, che gli consentano un confronto il più ampio e realistico possibile sulla realtà dei comportamenti delle imprese, delle istituzioni, dei singoli imprenditori e dei consumatori, in breve di tutti i fattori che concretamente concorrono a determinare le caratteristiche del mercato. Tali conoscenze oltre ad avere una fondamentale valenza ai fini dello sviluppo di una coscienza civica personale - non meno importante nei processi di formazione - rivestono un’utilità pratica straordinaria, in vista delle scelte professionali e individuali dei laureati. In questa prospettiva durante il Corso gli studenti sono chiamati anche a prendere familiarità con strumenti di ricerca e lavoro quali le basi dati (Cerved e altri) o gli organi di informazione, al fine di potere autonomamente sviluppare una capacità a conoscere la realtà del mondo aziendale spesso coperto da interessi, non compatibili con una approfondita preparazione scientifica in ambito economico.

Location and characteristics of the most important industrial clusters in Italy. 19. The heroes of private and public entrepreneurs in Italy. 20. Public and private finance: Mediobanca and the Age of Enrico Cuccia. 21. State owned steel industry since the miracle until the privatization (‘90s). 22. Issues on Italian Stock Exchange Market, some cases on the distortion practices of it (Parmalat, Olivetti, Telecom etc.). 23. The Privatization Laws in the ‘90s. 24. Silvio Berlusconi and Fininvest. 25. Innovations and R&D investments in Italian economic history after the 2nd World War. 26. The Corruption and the high cost of political parties as a reason for the decline. 27. The enduring 2007 economic crisis. Examination Methods

The examination will be both written and oral.
The written test is preliminary. It is based on 15 open questions. Time is 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Final grade is formed as following: 60% written test; 10% oral examination; 20% practical works completed during the course; 10% evaluation on participation to the discussion on business history main topics.
Non attending-course students may apply for a full oral examination.
