Learning objectives

The student will be able to recognize the main muscoloskeletal disorders and to know the therapeutic approaches to the most frequent pathologies.

Prerequisites and basic notions

Students must have passed the preparatory exams for the course.

Program

Muscoloskeletal traumatology.
Orthopaedic diseases in growth age: hip, spine, foot and ankle, tumors.
Muscoloskeletal diseases in adults: degenerative arthritis, sports injuries, infections, tumors. Conservative and surgical therapeutic approaches to the hip, knee, foot and ankle, spine, shoulder, elbow and hand diseases and deformity.

Didactic methods

Frontal lessons. Further details will be communicated to students at the beginning of the lessons.

Learning assessment procedures

Muscoloskeletal diseases: written tests (3) during the lessons period. A test will be administrated every 3-4 lessons on the concluded programme. Oral examination on request at the examination calls.

Students with disabilities or specific learning disorders (SLD), who intend to request the adaptation of the exam, must follow the instructions given HERE

Evaluation criteria

The test is aimed at ascertaining: the knowledge of the topics of the program with particular reference to the applicative and methodological aspects presented during the lessons, the ability to apply the logical schemes to the various problems presented, the depth and breadth of the knowledge acquired, the property of language.

Criteria for the composition of the final grade

Each written test "in itinere" will consist of 11 multiple choice questions on the topics covered in the 4 previous lessons, including the one on the day of the test. Each correct answer will be worth 3 points and the score of 30 and honors will be attributed to those who have answered exactly all 11 questions. Upon completion of the 3 tests, the final score will correspond to the average of the 3 grades, rounded up to the next point. The score of 30 with honors will be attributed to the 33 correct answers.
In case of completion of only 1 or 2 tests, the exam will be repeated on the official exam calls dates, and will consist, depending on the number of students, in a written test with 33 multiple choice questions on the whole program or, alternatively, in an oral test , always on the whole program carried out.
