Didactic methods

Students will be entrusted to the sub-sections of each operating unit and/or to a referring doctor. They will deal with the deepening of clinical semiotics, the discussion of the diagnostic elements and the therapeutic pathways of hospitalized patients, belonging to the Emergency Department and/or candidates for elective surgery. General concepts of surgery and management of surgical patients will be taught, as well as specialized concepts relating to the specialist areas to which they will be entrusted. They will take care of evaluating the clinical and diagnostic elements of each patient, and will be involved in the decision of the therapeutic pathways to be implemented. The teaching method will be mixed, providing for independent personal involvement (through texts and/or material already in possession), and direct teaching will be carried out, also through dedicated meetings (of which students will sometimes be the main responsible). The basic concepts of surgical dressings and the principles of preparing a sterile field will be taught. Students will participate, tutored, also in advanced medications and/or interventional procedures possibly to be carried out in the patient's bed. In the operating room, the principles of normal and surgical anatomy will be explained.

Learning assessment procedures

There is no formal exam but the student will be judged by the tutor during the entire internship.

Students with disabilities or specific learning disorders (SLD), who intend to request the adaptation of the exam, must follow the instructions given HERE

Has the ability to propose diagnostic hypotheses and to identify the diagnostic tests of greater sensitivity and specificity to confirm or not the hypotheses Is able to interpret the reports of laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging tests Orientates on decision-making processes relating to treatment surgical and non-surgical Is able to fill in the Hospitalization Acceptance/Discharge report and prepare a discharge letter Has achieved the managerial educational objectives listed on page 2 Respects the start and end times of the shift, dresses appropriately for the role, carries with itself everything you need. Demonstrates knowledge and awareness of the different roles and tasks of team members Demonstrates an active attitude ( asks questions, proposes to carry out activities)

Criteria for the composition of the final grade

For a POSITIVE EVALUATION of the components of the medical profession mentioned above, a synthetic score in letters will be used with values corresponding to: A: Excellent; B: Excellent; C: Good; D: satisfactory; It's enough. For a NEGATIVE assessment, letter F will be used: Insufficient Taking into account all these aspects, the student will be judged suitable or unsuitable.
