Academic calendar
The academic calendar shows the deadlines and scheduled events that are relevant to students, teaching and technical-administrative staff of the University. Public holidays and University closures are also indicated. The academic year normally begins on 1 October each year and ends on 30 September of the following year.

Learning outcomes
know different aspects of the process of professionalisation of Health Professions;
know of the Role Profile of Rehabilitative Health Professions Officer;
know the foundations of Clinical Govenance and its main instruments;
know analysis of organization and the foundations of the theory of complex adaptive systems applied to it;
know how to calculate the staffing is in service with ongoing activities that take turns and in outpatient services with variable volumes and / or binding activity; knowing how to program the absences in a group of professionals; know how to calculate volumes realistically payable in outpatient clinics;
know the principles of risk management applied to rehabilitation services;
know and apply the main tools of project management and change management;
know and be able to address major issues related to outpatient rehabilitation activities;
know the potential and critical issues of clinical documentation in rehabilitation systems.
Program
The Professionalization Process of Health Professionals: Towards a Role of Management in the Rehabilitation Area.
Definition of Profession. Legislative, training and clinical development of health professions. Peculiarities of Health Professions of Rehabilitation.
Role profile of Manager of the Rehabilitation Area.
Clinical Govenance and its Instruments.
Organizational analysis. Theory of complex adaptive systems applied to organizational analysis. Input factors, processes, output factors. The 5 dimensions of organizational analysis: people (quantitative / qualitative analysis); equipment; spaces; operating processes (intrinsic and extrinsic); social dynamics.
Rehab staffing. Definition of workload and requirements. The annual workable potential. Methods of calculation of orehabilitative staffing: inpatient services with continuous activities; outpatient services with variable volumes and with binding activities. Presence Programming Methods. Calculation of the realistically deliverable volumes in outpatient activities. Examples of organizational problems in rehab staffing.
Risk management applied to rehabilitation services. Definitions of: clinical risk, error, damage, event, adverse event. Theory of latent errors. Sentinel event. Prevention and Protection. Reactive analysis methods: incident reporting, trigger triggers, root causes analysis. Proactive analysis.
Project management.
Analysis of the problem and the consequences. Indicators of organizational, perceived, clinical quality problems.
Analysis of causes: Ishikawa diagram and conceptual maps.
Formulation of solution hypotheses.
Choice of multiple solution hypotheses: SWOT analysis.
Description of system operation: Flowcharts, Responsibility Matrices.
Change Planning: Gantt Chart.
Checking and monitoring the change: outcome indicators and process indicators.
Problems in outpatient rehabilitation activities
Waiting list and waiting time. Expected waiting time and waiting time in progress. Organizational quality indicators in the management of waiting times. Interpretative model of waiting times in outpatient rehabilitation services: input factors, factors affecting absorption capacity.
Normative requirements on Outpatient Services: Essential levels of assistance in Italy, Recipe, Ticket, Reflections on different contest (public, private accredited, direct access at self-employed professionist, access through insurance).
Clinical documentation in rehabilitation. Definition of information system. Possible meaning of clinical documentation in rehabilitation. Phases of the rehabilitative process and related documentation modes. Potential and Limitations of Paper Documentation and Computerized Documentation.

Examination Methods
Written test with multiple choice questions and open-ended questions aimed at test the learning of the different areas of the program.
Presentation at small groups of an elaborate of project management on an organizational problem in rehabilitation prepared in accordance with methods learned in the classroom.
