Learning outcomes
The students will:
- Acquire knowledge about the main concepts and theoretical approaches concerning groups;
- Acquire knowledge about the structural and procedural aspects that characterize working groups;
- Become more aware of relational dynamics in teamwork and acquire greater skills in conflict management;
- Acquire knowledge about the use of groups in the healthcare sector.
Program
The program will focus on the following themes:
- definition of the concept of ‘group’;
- main theories of group psychology;
- individuals, groups, needs and identities;
- nature, dynamic and structural aspects, mechanisms, relational and affective processes of groups;
- team building: structural and procedural aspects;
- relational dynamics in working groups;
- communication skills aimed at fostering relationships in working groups;
- interpersonal conflicts and conflict management in working groups;
- the group as a work tool in a healthcare context (multidisciplinary groups, training groups, group management, group research, virtual groups)
Examination Methods
The final exam will be in written form, with multiple-choice questions and open questions.
The final exam is aimed at ascertaining knowledge of the topics covered during the course and will focus on the slide material presented.
In the open questions, students must show that they are able to present their arguments correctly, clearly and concisely, identifying the essential elements for the answer and using the specialist language appropriately.
