Learning objectives
The clinical simulation has the purpose to let the students learn some organizational, technical-practical and relational skills in safe setting. Moreover clinical simulation is aiming at develop in the student the problem solving ability using case method and role-playing . Using clinical simulation may reduce the emotional impact in dealing with patents’ real situation experienced by the nursing students in clinical setting. Also, the clinical simulation offers to the students the opportunity to train and apply theoretical principles to clinical practice. The clinical simulation activity happens in equipped settings, where a tutor or an expert nurse guides a small group of students.
Prerequisites and basic notions
THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE RELEVANT TO THE EXERCISE AND/OR LABORATORY ACQUIRED IN THE CLASSROOM, RECOVERED FROM THE BIBLIOGRAPHY AND THROUGH VIEWING MATERIAL UPLOADED IN MOODLE
Program
- Carry out calculations and know how to read a drug prescription. - Decision making in the patient with heart failure in the stabilized phase. - Interventions to improve therapeutic adherence and self-care of patients with diabetes. EXERCISES/SIMULATIONS: - Blood sampling from venipuncture and capillary sampling. - Position a peripheral venous catheter and connect it to the infusion line; peripheral vascular access management (Midline). - Aspirate and dilute drugs and set up an infusion line. - Aspirate and dilute drugs and perform intramuscular and subcutaneous injection. - Interventions to improve therapeutic adherence and self-care of COPD patients. - Interventions to improve the self-care (techniques and relational strategies) of patients with stomas. - SNG positioning. - PEG/SNG management for pharmacological and nutritional administration.

Learning assessment procedures
Verification of the acquisition of the prerequisites through an interactive pre-test at the beginning of each laboratory and the viewing of the material uploaded in moodle by each student. - Active participation in exercises/case studies. - Acquisition of professional skills and competences specific to each laboratory.
Evaluation criteria
Regular and certified attendance (100%) of the student at the workshops with any compensation for absences and any gaps in individual skills.
