Learning outcomes
The course introduces the student to the understanding of the basic concepts concerning the main diseases and fundamental pathogenetic processes, to allow the correlation of cellular homeostatic mechanisms to organ function changes and clinical manifestations of disease. It also proposes the study of the basic principles of pharmacology, in particular of pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic mechanisms, and introduces the student to understand and evaluate the benefit and risk profile of drugs. It is also proposed to develop in the student an approach oriented to the definition of problems, the choice of interventions in the prevention and management of changes in respiratory, urinary and intestinal function, the multidimensional detection and detection of pain.
Program
The course provides the student with the fundamental concepts of pathophysiology and semeiotics, involved in the activation of organ damage and the development of major diseases. The information needed to understand the set of events leading to the disease will be selected using a practical approach that can frame the problem while keeping the student’s attention. Eventual deepenings will be reserved to the lessons that specifically treat the organ and the apparatus ( cardiovascular, endocrine, hemopoietic, respiratory system, electroloitic and cellular balance. Each fundamental alteration will be explored within a specific organ and the different peculiar manifestations of the organ will be clarified. During the lessons we will also talk about semeiotics and the ability to grasp the objective signs that characterize diseases. The treatment of semeiotics will be carried out after treating the pathophysiology of the various organs. At the end of the course, students must be able to know the general mechanisms that lead to the disease and identify its characteristics.
