Learning objectives
The course aims to provide the student with technical-practical, relational, problem-solving and organizational skills in safe setting, before clinical practice in clinical environment with patients, in order to reduce the emotional impact that comes from real situations and guarantee ethicality and safety to patients. For these reasons this course represents a prerequisite for the clinical practice. It also offers to student the opportunity to train himself in applying the theoretical principles to practice situations. The main skills of the first year of the Bachelor Degree are: measuring vital parameters, hand hygiene, choice and use of personal protective equipment (PPE), setting up a sterile field, staging and treatment of a pressure injury , take care of the person's body, apply the principles of ergonomics, carry out the person's positioning / transfer and assisted positioning maneuvers, assessment skills and objective examination.

The skills considered essential in the first year are skills such as positioning maneuvers of the patient, assessment and objective examination skills, physiopathological reasoning when faced with situations

Didactic methods
The laboratory activity takes place in equipped environments, with small groups of students led by a teacher. Based on the type of skill to be developed, practical exercise sessions can be organized with static dummies and high-fidelity simulators; reading, analysis and discussion sessions of cases, situations, role - playing with simulated patient/operator.
Learning assessment procedures
At the end of the course year, the teacher will formulate an "approved" rating on the exam report, taking into account the student's regular and certified attendance (100%) at the laboratories with any compensation for absences and any gaps in individual skills.
