Meaning of EBP and phases: from formulating a question to finding relevant sources, to evaluating and applying it in practice • Use of databases (PubMed), Boolean operators and MESH terms • Main characteristics of research designs and congruence between question and research design • Meaning of some concepts aimed at developing the ability to read and understand a source: sampling, randomization, homogeneity, representativeness, primary and surrogate outcome, bias, objective, hypothesis and statement of intent, dependent – independent variable, intervention. • Components and methods of reading and applying a research article • EBN tools: guidelines (NICE, SPREAD, CDC), systematic reviews and CAT
