Learning outcomes
The course aims to investigate epidemiologically relevant and exemplary clinical pictures for care purposes by developing them with an integrated surgical and nursing approach. Patient problems will be addressed by considering their evolution, reasoned patient assessment, and the selection of evidence-based, appropriate, and needs-driven care interventions.
Program
General introduction
Basic surgical terms (laparotomy, laparoscopy, resection, - ectomy, anastomosis, peristalsis, meteorism, type of abdominal pain, wound infections, seroma, lymphocele, abscess, empyema, cysts, fistula)
Different abdominal incision and physiopathology factors . Complications: dehiscence and incisional hernia
Indications, advantages and disadvantages in open and laparoscopic surgery
Fast-track surgery-ERAS
Epidemiology, risk factors, signs and symptoms, diagnostic modalities, main surgical techniques and prognostic factors
Surgical technique, prevalence of major early and late complications and recognition signs, pre ( e.g. chemotherapy), intraoperative ( e.g. IORT, HIPEC [Intraperitoneal Chemo-Hyperthermia] and postoperative medical treatment
