Learning outcomes
Aim of the course is to obtain the knoledge in clinical pharmacology needed to the profession of obstetrician, useful in the management and control of pharmacological therapies, with special reference to the use of drugs in pregnancy, breastfeeding and in peri- and post- neonatal period. Special referenc also to the identification and prevention of the most important adverse drug reactions for each drug category presented in the course, with special reference to the teratogenic and foetal adverse effects. Aim of the cours is also the knowledge needed for an efficacy pharmacologiacl education related to the drug use in general and in pregnancy
Program
The student should know the main characteristics, the most used drugs, the mechanism of action, the most important and common adverse reactions, the controindication and the potential problem related to the use in prenancy of the following drug classes:
Drugs for pain: NSAIDs, non-opioid analgesics and opioids
Contraceptives
Drugs for the control of the uterine muscle
Gastro-intestinal drugs: antiacid, antiulcer, antiemetics, laxatives
Antiaggregant and anticoagulants
benzodiazepines and antidepressants
Antihypertensive drugs in pregnancy
