Learning outcomes

This module aims to provide students with the fundamental notions aimed at understanding and recognizing the main vascular disorders in internal medicine, with particular reference to their pathophysiological bases, clinical manifestations (physical examination and symptoms), diagnostic investigations, quality of life and survival repercussions, and treatment approach.

Program

Main vascular disorders treated during the course:
- arteriosclerosis, obliterating arteriopathy in the lower limbs, acute and chronic ischemia
- lower extremity chronic venous insufficiency; acute venous thrombosis, and pulmonary embolism
- lymphedema
- vascular ulcers, diabetic foot
- pressure-induced skin and soft tissues injuries

Examination Methods

Objectives: To verify the learning about the main vascular disorders in internal medicine (pathophysiological bases, signs and symptoms, main diagnostic tests, treatment principles)
Method: oral

The final grade will be obtained from the average of the assessments obtained in this didactic module's courses.
