Learning objectives

Know the organisation of the prevention system at work with the application of the current legislation, starting from the reflection professional risks that are present in a physiotherapist’s activities.

Prerequisites and basic notions

There are no specific prerequisites other than those required for access to the degree course

Program

General principles of Occupational Medicine and prevention in the workplace. General and specific legislation on health and safety in the workplace. Roles and structures involved in protecting health and safety at work. The main occupational risks. Work-related diseases. Health surveillance. Individual susceptibility. The assessment of fitness for work. Medical-legal obligations. Preventive Medicine in healthcare workers. Chemical and carcinogenic, ergonomic, biological, and organizational-psychosocial risk factors. Manual handling of loads and patients: main related osteoarticular pathologies and their prevention.
