Learning outcomes

Recall of main topics about anatomy and physiology of nutrition; basic about macro and
micro nutrients and their interaction with the human beeing both in physiology and illness, with
particolar enphasis on prevention from the dietological point of view in order to understand by students the importance of the link between nutrition and health.

Program

The course will start with a very teorethical part, where a synthetic recall is made about anatomy and physiology of bowel, liver and pancreas and about most important nutrients starting with macro-nutrients (proteins, lypidis and carbohydrates) and micro-nutrients (trace-elements, vitamins); than something about metabolical needs of the body and finally some elements about nutritional assessment with particular deeping in “proteic- energetic malnutrition).
Finally is discussed a so called “special part” in which dietological aspects of main illness are deepened (such as eating disorders, , diabetes, caries and prevention by floride, hypertension, cancer, hyperlipemia, and so on) with particular stress to prevention.

Examination Methods

Examination is held after lesson end and is made usually of 30 questions (multiple choice) with 4 different choices and just one anser correct; students have 30 minutes to fill the questionnaire and usually an oral examination is not held
