Program
Organization of the human genome, genetic Polymorphisms, germ-line and somatic mutations.
Online Databases for genomics. Reference search and genome browsers. In silico molecular biology software.
Nucleic acids extraction. Quantification, quality analysis and labeling of nucleic acids.
Gene amplification techniques (cloning), signal amplification, target amplification. Endpoint PCR and real-time qPCR. Analysis of real-time qPCR data. RT-qPCR and other gene expression assays. Digital PCR and new methods for multiplex nucleic acids analysis.
Next generation sequencing( NGS), Array CGH, MLPA PCR, RNA fusion sequencing to detect chromosomal aberrations, SNPArray and RNAseq for gene expression analysis. Introduction to third-generation sequencing.
Examples of biomedical applications of molecular methodologies. (companion Diagnostics, forensic Genetics, Pharmacogenetics).

Didactic methods
The class includes fontal lessons. Teaching material is provided via Moodle and, upon request, directly to the students. Recorded lessons will be available via Moodle by the end of the course.
