Learning outcomes
In the first part of the internship the student has to improve the ability in CT and MRI.
In the second part the student will practice Radiation Therapy, studied in the second year.
In the third part of the training the student is in Nuclear Medicine and has to learn the basic principles of this discipline and how to prepare and check the radiopharmaceutical. Moreover, the student has to learn the most common techniques used in scintigraphy (SPET) and in PET, how to eliminate radioactive waste and how to decontaminate the environment.
Furthermore, the student has to learn organizational, ethical and deontological issues related to the profession and to the relation with the patient, and has always to ensure radiation safety for patients and other workers.
Program
The student has to achieve the specific goals of the internship, according to the theoretical activity done during the year and according to what the location of the training has to offer. During the internship the student is always supervised by tutors.
Examination Methods
-Discussion about x-rays procedures, with and without contrast agent, and quality analysis of radiograms.
-Discussion about radiation protection, CT protocols and CT image analysis
-Discussion about MRI safety, MRI protocols and image quality
-Discussion about main radiation protection techniques and main examination in Nuclear medicine and image interpretation
-Discussion about Radiation Therapy protocols, techniques and radiation protection.
