Program

Notes on ionizing radiations and their interactions with matter. Mode of delivery of radiotherapy. Goals of radiotherapy. Staff working in radiotherapy. Outline of brachytherapy. Classification of side effects. Outline of intraoperative radiotherapy (IORT). Positioning and immobilization systems. Reference points and coordinate systems in radiotherapy. TC Simulation. Definition of volumes of interest according to ICRU. Multimodal imaging in radiotherapy. Classification of organs at risk and tolerance doses of healthy tissues. Prescription of the dose and divisions. Control of the set-up. Movement measurement and management.

Didactic methods

The lessons will be held in person by means of slides and videos.

Learning assessment procedures

The evaluation will take place through an oral exam. The candidate will have to answer questions regarding at least 3 topics covered during the lessons

The grade will derive from the degree of knowledge demonstrated by the student during the oral exam
