Learning outcomes

The course is aimed to give the basis of the technological characteristics of Computed Tomography, the clinical applications and the anatomy of the major organs (brain, chest, abdomen) examined with this technique. The course will be dedicated initially to the technological evolution of this technique, from first generation CT scanners to the subsequent technologies, spiral CT and multidetector CT. The impact of the technological evolution will be discussed.
The main technical parameters will be presented together with the effect on patient dose, image quality and scanning time.
The characteristics of the contrast agent for CT and modalitiy of injection of rhe contrast agent will be discussed together with their indications.
