L-LIN/01 - HISTORICAL AND GENERAL LINGUISTICS
II semestre sede Trento dal Feb 9, 2015 al May 30, 2015.
The topic of the course is the analysis of the main properties of writing, with a focus on the varieties of forms and systems in different societies. Particular attention will be given to ethnographic and anthropological aspects, both in synchronic and in diachronic perspective.
Prerequisites: Knowledge of basic linguistic concepts and terminology.
The objects of the study.
Oral language and written language.
Writing forms and writing systems.
Idological use of writing.
Attitudes towards populations without a own writing system.
Didactic Methods: Workshop with a first introductory section held by the professor and a second section in which students will refer on linguistic essays.
