Learning outcomes
Prof. Baltazs Toth – University of Sopron, Hungary
Territorial and regional competitiveness. Understanding competitiveness and regional competitiveness. 'The regional competitiveness debate'. Different approaches to regional competitiveness. Exogenous and endogenous factors of regional competitiveness. Measuring regional competitiveness: an overview of possible methods. The pyramidal model. The Global Competitiveness Report. Regional competitiveness in EU and in Hungary: some results.
New trends in the endogenous growth and development of regions. The sources of endogenous development: alternative forms of capital as new drivers and location factors. Duality in the notion and forms of capital: traditional vs. alternative forms (money capital, physical capital, human capital, social capital, cultural capital, symbolic capital, natural capital etc.). Classifying endogenous resources according to forms of capital. New approaches of regional growth and development based on ‘capital frameworks’.
