Learning outcomes
The course aims to analyze the history of St. Francis church in AssisiT: its historical genesys and the development of history of art inside.
Program
The history of the building , starting from its foundation in 1228, and the salient moments of its decoration will be taken into consideration: starting from the large painted cross commissioned by Frate Elia to the painter Giunta Pisano, to the first pictorial cycle dedicated to Saint Francis, in the lower church, by the so-called Master of San Francesco, to Giotto's frescoes in the upper church.
