Learning outcomes

The course will provide the theoretical and methodological bases of the discipline and analyze some important issues of contemporary social geography, such as the spatial impact of globalization, the social transformation of urban space, the effects of social and migration dynamics in Italian and African territories.
The course aims to offer a reflection on the spatial dimension that characterizes social facts and social phenomena, the purpose it is to contribute, to the professional formation overall context of the contemporary society.
The theoretical analysis will be supported by case studies, in particular on the knowledge of some specific topics in West Africa.


BASIC KNOWLEDGES:

1- KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
Knowledge of the basic concepts nd the scientific geographic point of view of social geography.
2- APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
to choose correctly the concepts in the contemporary narration of community-society-territory relationship
3- MAKING JUDGEMENTS
to be able to know contemporary facts and phenomena from a geographical point of view
4- COMMUNICATION SKILLS
to be able to use the terminology related to the geography usuful to social work.
5- LEARNING SKILLS
to be able to continue to update the geographical knowledges referred to contexts and scientific topics usuful to social work.

Examination Methods

Written exam. The evaluation will consider: knowledge, ability to communicate in a clear way, proper use of geographical terminology, spelling and syntax.
