Learning outcomes

The module aims at providing students with Critical Discourse Analysis tools and to introduce them to Critical Stylistics.

Program

The module concentrates on the relation between text, discourse, intertextuality and interdiscursiveness by introducing students to Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) and critical stylistics, with a special focus on ‘discourse representation’, ‘presupposition’, ‘negation’, ‘metadiscourse’ and ‘irony’, and, more generally, on ideological construction in various discursive and textual typologies.
