Scientific Disciplinary Sector (SSD)
BIO/12 - CLINICAL BIOCHEMISTRY AND MOLECULAR BIOLOGY
II sem. dal Mar 1, 2017 al Jun 9, 2017.
The course aims to introduce principles that form the foundations of the Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine with particular attention on the theoretical bases of the design and use of information systems applied to Laboratory Medicine Services. Specifically, knowledge of the Laboratory Medicine test, of the most used Analytical Methodologies, of the Instrumental Interfacing modalities among the various Automatic Analyzers, Clinical Biochemistry Analysis Techniques, Design and Development of the Information System of Laboratory Medicine (Laboratory Information System). Knowledge of clinical biochemistry, biological sample, reference intervals, decision limits. Knowledge of the main areas of Laboratory Medicine (Clinical Chemistry, Hematology and Coagulation, Protidology, Special Clinical Chemistry, Clinical Molecular Biology, Clinical Mass Spectrometry).
During the course students will aquire the following competences:
Provide the knowledge and skills concerning the organizational and management aspects necessary for the management of information systems in the field of laboratory medicine, also considering aspects related to the different analytical methodologies and understanding of the different biological materials, types of Biochemical Analysis.
Students will develop the required skills in order to be autonomous in the following tasks:
•In the design phase of a Laboratory Medicine Information System,
•the ability to make the most approachable design choices according to the system requirements required by the Laboratory Medicine Services.
