Type D and Type F activities

The didactic plans of each course of study provide for the obligation to obtain a certain number of credits through optional activities (also called 'type D and F').

In addition to teaching provided for in the didactic plans of other courses and language or IT certifications as specified in the regulations of each course, these activities may also consist of extracurricular initiatives of various contents, such as, for example, participation in a seminar or a series of seminars, attendance at teaching workshops, carrying out project work, additional internships, etc.

As with any other elective activity, these must be consistent with knowledge and skills already acquired by the student.

Those listed on this page are the extracurricular initiatives that the Teaching Commission has approved and, therefore, allow those who take part in them to acquire the specified credits, subject to the conditions set out on the detail pages of each initiative.

In this regard, please note that:
- all these initiatives require, for the acquisition of the relative CFUs, the passing of a test to verify the skills acquired, following the indications contained in the 'Examination methods' section of the individual activity
- the student must include the chosen activity in his or her study plan and enrol in the roll specifically created for the test, the date of which is set by the teacher of reference and published in the 'Examination methods' section of the individual activity.

CONTAMINATION LAB

The Contamination Lab Verona (CLab Verona) is an experiential pathway with modules dedicated to innovation and enterprise culture that offers the opportunity to work in teams with students from all degree courses to solve challenges set by companies and organisations. WARNING: To be admitted to any teaching activity, including those of your choice, you must be enrolled in the course year in which it is offered. Graduands in the December and April sessions are therefore advised NOT to undertake extracurricular activities in the new academic year in which they are not enrolled, as these sessions are valid for the previous academic year. Therefore, no CFU recognition will be granted for activities carried out in an academic year in which they are not enrolled.

Learning objectives

The course analyzes firms’ problems - including interactions with owners, management, the workforce, and input providers - as well as analyzing the basic issues of corporate governance and corporate finance. The major objective of the course is to prepare the students for a critical assessment of these economic situations and the related economic policies. We analyze firms’ choices using the essential tools of microeconomics and information theory. Upon completing the course, in terms of learning outcomes students will be expected to understand and use the basic analytical tools adopted, with a special emphasis on the theory of incentives, that investigates the behavior of economic agents in the presence of asymmetric information and divergent interests.

Prerequisites and basic notions

A basic knowledge of microeconomics principles is recommended.

Program

General program of the course
I. Economic theory of the organization. Economic organization and efficiency. Transaction costs. The role of information. Business objectives.
II. Contracts, information, and incentives. Contracts and the principal-agent model. Contractual incompleteness. Information asymmetries. Adverse selection and moral hazard.
III. Company organization and incentives. Property rights and ownership structure. Market failures. Internal labor market.

Didactic methods

Frontal lessons and exercise sessions. Lessons and exercise sessions take place in person at the scheduled times specified on the website. However, the content will be recorded and made available on the teaching Moodle platform. While participatory teaching activities will occur in the classroom, please note that these activities may not be suitable for recording due to their interactive nature.

Learning assessment procedures

The assessment method is the same for all students ad is based on a final written exam coverning the entire course program. The exam includes multiple choice questions, exercises and open questions. During the course, students will also be given the opportunity to sit in-class quizzes to obtain some extra-points to be added to the final exam grade.

Students with disabilities or specific learning disorders (SLD), who intend to request the adaptation of the exam, must follow the instructions given HERE

Evaluation criteria

This exam will test the understanding of the theoretical tools presented in the course and the ability to use theoretical tools and quantitative evidence to critically discuss relevant issues.

Criteria for the composition of the final grade

The evaluation will be based on the result of the written test. For students who choose to sit in-class quizzes, the extra points will contribute to the determination of the final grade.
