Learning objectives
Through a targeted historical-thematic path, the aim is to offer a range of theoretical and methodological tools to understand how the approach to theatrical performance changes over a period of time that goes from the mid-sixteenth century to the contemporary era. At the end of the course, students are expected to acquire the necessary skills to be able to independently evaluate the coefficients proposed by a live performance.

Program
The lessons will focus on the following topics:
1. The audience's point of view: the spaces of Greek and Roman theater
2. The rediscovery and reinvention of the theatrical space between court and professional shows.
3. The space of the Italian theater and bourgeois drama between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
4. The birth of the professional actor: from the Commedia dell'Arte to the Theater of roles.
5. From the identified actor to the estranged actor of the twentieth century.
6. Collegial analysis of case studies proposed by the students.
